Harriett Baldwin has welcomed a manifesto commitment which will see a protected rural post office network, offering more services, if people elect a Conservative Government on June 8.
Plans are being developed to ensure that existing rural services are protected – especially across the Post Office network upon which elderly people and smaller businesses depend on for banking and other financial services as well as traditional post office services.
Harriett, who is a Conservative Parliamentary Candidate, has worked regularly across West Worcestershire, during her time as an MP, helping with local communities to offer the best possible services, including the rural post office network.
She led the resumption of postal services in Kempsey, has formally supported post office services in Great Witley, Clow’s Top, Upton-upon-Severn, Lower Broadheath and Martley and continues to work with senior management to protect the postal network.
Harriett has also been active helping Post Mistress Jenny Cain following the theft of the Barnards Green Post Office cashpoint machine working with West Mercia Police and local authorities to propose closed-circuit TV security measures.
Harriett commented: “There are some important manifesto commitments set out by Theresa May which will please the residents of West Worcestershire, which is mainly a rural area.
“The protection of post office services has been a major factor in my casework in recent years and I am proud to see the Conservatives continue to stand up for rural areas including supporting post offices, schools and pharmacies.
“I have regularly made the case to protect and even extend the services delivered in remote rural villages and I am sure people will welcome this commitment to look at the problem and deliver workable local solutions.
“The detail in this manifesto is, I believe, a compelling case to vote Conservative, and I hope that West Worcestershire people will choose to vote for me, and the strong, stable leadership of Theresa May, on June 8.“
