Harriett Baldwin joined other campaigners calling on the Government to hold a referendum on the EU Treaty at Redditch this Saturday.

A cross-party campaign to put pressure on the Government to hold a referendum on the EU Treaty took its campaigning to Redditch this Saturday.

Thousands of leaflets were distributed to voters across Redditch. It is one of only 10 constituencies in Britain where a referendum ballot is taking place. Ballot papers have been sent by the "I Want a Referendum" campaign to every voter on the public register in Redditch. These need to be returned by February 25th. Results will be announced on February 27th at a rally in London.

Harriett Baldwin, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for West Worcestershire joined other campaigners for the action day last Saturday. She will also be at the London rally. Speaking after the campaign meeting, Harriett Baldwin said, "There was a great response from Redditch voters. Many have already sent in their ballot papers. I think turnout will be surprisingly high. Feelings are strong in Redditch. The Labour party promised a referendum in their 2005 manifesto and are now trying to wriggle out of it by pretending it's a different document. The Liberal Democrats also promised a referendum in 2005 and are now planning to backtrack, causing leadership problems for Nick Clegg. This piece of legislation changes our relationship with Europe in a very substantial way and the British people have been promised a say in it. Now they are being misled by the government. It's outrageous."
