Local People Share Views on Malvern Hills Bill

A Parliamentary Bill which seeks to change the corporate governance of the Malvern Hills Trust will be debated in the House of Lords, it has been confirmed.

Local people have shared their feedback on the Bill with 48 submissions officially registered, meaning that a debate will be triggered on the proposed changes.

The Malvern Hills Bill will move forward to have its second reading in the House of Lords followed by debate by a committee of Peers.

West Worcestershire MP Dame Harriett Baldwin has met with Lord Faulkner of Worcester, who will oversee the passage of the Bill in the House of Lords as well as meeting with the parliamentary agents who act on behalf of Malvern Hills Trust.

The process allowing local people to share their views has now closed and a timetable to debate the Bill will be confirmed shortly.

Dame Harriett said:

“The sheer number of people who have taken the time to submit their views shows how passionately people feel about our magnificent hills.

“I have been following the process closely and will follow the debate in the House of Lords.

“It’s still a long way from making its way to the House of Commons, but I plan to watch its process closely.”
