Pensioners and savers from Malvern will have an opportunity next weekend (Saturday, April 18th) to send a budget message to Chancellor Darling.

Street stalls will take place in Barnard's Green, Malvern and Malvern Link where savers and pensioners will be encouraged to sign a petition to the Chancellor. The street stalls are part of a National Campaign Day organised across Britain by the Conservative Party to put pressure on the government to do more for pensioners and savers.

The petitions will call on Gordon Brown to use the budget on April 22nd to introduce Conservative proposals to abolish income tax on savings for basic rate taxpayers and raise the pensioners' personal allowance by £2,000 to £11,490.

Harriett Baldwin, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for West Worcestershire and one of the volunteers on the street stalls said, "Pensioners and savers are the innocent victims of this recession. People in Malvern can come and sign the petition at the street stalls next Saturday morning from 10am, or they can download a copy of the petition from my website, or from West Worcestershire Conservatives."
