Transport Minister Theresa Villiers today confirmed that Network Rail will be reviewing options for improved train services across the county. The Minister confirmed that Network Rail is considering further upgrades to the line to improve services to the south east. The news was revealed in a written answer to a question from West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin on the future of local train services. The Minister said: “We plan to improve both journey times and services between Oxford and Hereford. “The redoubling of the route between Oxford and Evesham is nearly complete and additional train services are expected to operate from September. “We expect the Intercity Express Programme to serve the route with faster trains by 2018, and Network Rail is reviewing opportunities to upgrade the track to enable further journey time improvements.” Harriett commented: "I will continue to keep up the pressure on the Department of Transport, Network Rail and the train operating companies for a faster, more reliable and more frequent service from Malvern and Pershore to London."
