Security Minister Tom Tugendhat visited Malvern today (May 28) to meet with local businesses alongside West Worcestershire MP Dame Harriett Baldwin.
The two MPs met with senior leaders at QinetiQ and then toured Malvern Hills Science Park to chat to local business people.
Malvern has a long tradition delivering nationally important defence research and has more recently become a crucial hub in the cyber security industry.
The Minister received a briefing on QinetiQ’s growth as the company has added 100 new jobs in Malvern this year.
Dame Harriett commented:
“Malvern has been at the heart of the nation’s defence capability for eight decades and it was really useful to take the Security Minister on a tour of some of the great local businesses feeding into that national effort.
“We heard some really positive news about growth at QinetiQ and the chief executive of Malvern Hills Science Park was confident that the small business sector is upbeat and ready to grow.
“National security is at the heart of the job of Government and I was glad to be able to take Tom Tugendhat around to show him how the current brilliant brains of Malvern are keeping our nation safe.”
