West Worcestershire MP, Harriett Baldwin spoke up for ‘brilliant Malvern’ at a major defence industry event this week. The MP was delivering a speech at an open day hosted by defence company Dytecna at their factory in Geraldine Road, Malvern. Representatives from the armed forces and the UK defence industry attended the prestigious event this week (Thursday April 14). Harriett also presented a medal to one of Dytecna’s members of staff who was involved in the reconstruction work in Iraq. Harriett praised the work of Dytecna on the global stage and recognised its important role in the local economy. Harriett said: “I would like to put on record my thanks to all those who work both here and abroad to keep our country safe. “Dytecna is one of a number of very important defence companies working in Malvern doing important specialist work to support our armed forces and security services. “What is clear from what I am seeing here today is picture of a thriving business which is going quietly on its way providing important kit for our armed forces. “Dytecna and other small and medium sized manufacturers are critical to the recovery of our economy – an economy based on a more sustainable mix of manufacturing and exports, rather than debt, house price rises and financial services. “Because of the secret squirrel nature of some of the work that’s been done here in Malvern over the years, the town’s successes have always been underplayed. “Now it is time to shout the message loud and proud. Brilliant Malvern is alive and well.
