West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has called for Malvern Hills District to be an early beneficiary of the Worcestershire County Council programme to move towards demand-responsive bus travel.
Harriett wrote to Councillor Mike Rouse, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Highways and Transport, to make the case for Malvern Hills District as an early beneficiary.
Harriett said:
“Connectivity for our rural communities, and particularly for our older population, is vital. Many residents across Malvern Hills District have written to me about this issue and innovation is at hand.
“I held a bus summit in December and heard local voices on this issue. I hope that Worcestershire County Council will consider bringing demand-responsive bus travel to our area.
“This would help connect those most in need to local services and increase the use of public transport with benefits for the environment and local communities.”
