West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin today applauded a Malvern company’s ambitions to be part of the London Olympic success story.
Malvern-base Dytecna is adapting some of its state-of-the-art surveillance technology to be used as part of the plans to protect London’s Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The company’s ingenious ‘cube’ technology is already available for used the armed forces but it is expected to be considered as a piece of kit for use during the Olympics next year.
The technology was demonstrated to Harriett and Defence Minister Peter Luff during a tour of the company’s Malvern manufacturing facility yesterday (Monday November 21).
The cube forms a platform to allow hi-tech surveillance equipment to be speedily deployed to view crowds, terrain or event battlefields.
Harriett commented: “Some of the brightest and best brains in Britain are based in Malvern delivering brilliant inventions for our defence community.
“I applaud Dytecna’s innovative approach and support their plans to use this technology during the Olympics.
“The cube is part of an important collaboration between Dytecna and QinetiQ and I am pleased to see our important local companies working together and creating opportunities for growth in the future.”
