West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin was today celebrating after a Government announcement to increase help towards childcare costs for working parents.
The MP has campaigned for better childcare funding to help more mothers who want to get back into employment but find childcare costs make it uneconomic.
Prime Minister David Cameron today announced that working parents would get up to £2,000 per child toward the costs of childcare.
He said: “Tax free childcare is an important part of our long-term economic plan. It will help millions of hard-pressed families with their childcare costs and provide financial security for the future.”
Harriett added: “High childcare costs have become an increasingly dominant factor when women decide to return to work after having a family.
“Last year, I set out the case for better childcare support for families where both parents want to work and also lobbied the Government directly.
“The Chancellor made announcements on funding this policy in his budget last year and I warmly welcome the Prime Minister's announcement today to increase that help.”
