West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has called for a further review of speed limits to improve safety along the busy A46 between Ashchurch and Evesham.
The MP has called on National Highways to carry out a formal review of the stretch of the road by Long Carrant Residential Park where local residents are concerned about speeding motorists past the dangerous junction joining the main road.
National Highways agreed to reduce speeds at the stretch of the road by Hinton Cross and now Dame Harriett has called on the agency to re-visit the stretch between Sedgeberrow and Beckford.
Dame Harriett said:
“I’ve had a series of conversations with residents living at Long Carrant Views and also local campaigners who want a formal review of road safety there.
“We’ve had a successful campaign to reduce speeding up the road at Hinton Cross and now I’d like National Highways to turn their mind to this challenge.
“Stretches of the road are already limited to 40 miles per hour and I’d like to see National Highways look at making a speed limit reduction to 50 mph at this dangerous stretch of road as well.”
