West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has called on Royal Mail to review its local parcel delivery plans after the closure of Tenbury’s Post Office. The MP has already contacted Post Office managers to accelerate plans to find a replacement Post Office venue in Tenbury and she has also today written to Royal Mail to ask them to look for a local delivery office solution while the Post Office is closed. At the moment, customers are being urged to visit Leominster sorting office to collect their parcels if they are unable to arrange re-delivery. Tenbury’s Post Office moved to Bowkett’s three years ago but the shop closed suddenly, last week, leaving the town without a service. Harriett commented: “I have received assurances from the Post Office that a swift solution is being sought but in the interim, local people will be without a post office service and somewhere to collect their undelivered parcels. “Although I am informed that Bowkett’s didn’t give the appropriate warnings to allow for the full transfer of the service to a new location, it is local people and local business who are set to suffer. “I’m already getting concerned messages from local people who will find it difficult to get to the nearest Post Office and the issue of undelivered parcels could force people to make long detour car journeys. “I have asked both the Post Office and Royal Mail to work swiftly to find alternative solutions to this problem and announce a temporary plan as quickly as possible.”
