West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin this week thanked big-hearted county people who helped to raise more than £3000 to go towards helping in the fight against the spread of ebola. The MP was asked to open a bring-and-buy sale held in Great Witley village hall on Saturday (January 17). The sale was the brainchild of local resident Jane Westacott, who was inspired to hold the fund-raiser after seeing the plight of people suffering from the deadly illness in West Africa. Harriett commented: “We have all been affected by the terrible news of the spread of the ebola virus. “The Government has committed to a £230 million aid package as well as sending medical experts, troops and aircraft to help and £5 million in support to aid organisations. “It was amazing to see local people motivated to help out too and this huge sum of money will make an enormous difference. “I want to thank Jane and her friends for organising this amazing event and every person who took the time to visit Great Witley and join in.” Photo: Jane Westacott and Harriett Baldwin kick off ebola fund-raiser in Great Witley
