West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin was last week given a tour of the new development at Malvern Hills Science Park as the project nears completion.
The MP took up a trowel to assist in the building work as part of a traditional ‘topping out’ ceremony to celebrate the completion of the main structure.
The new building work is being carried out by Trebor Developments and Clugston Construction and it is expected to be completed in January before being taken over by defence technology company UTC Aerospace.
The project will free up much needed space for new companies to move into the successful science park.
Harriett commented: “Last Christmas, I helped to dig the first turf on this impressive construction project and it is great to see such swift progress.
“I know we are all looking forward to the day when the keys are handed over to UTC Aerospace which will allow them to move into a state-of-the-art HQ as well as freeing up space for new tenants to move onto the site.
“I have been briefed on the Science Park’s wider expansion plans and it is clear that there is an extremely exciting future for businesses in Malvern.”
Bob Tattrie, managing partner at Trebor Developments, added: “It is very satisfying to see this large office development being delivered in partnership between the public and private sector.
“The project represents one of the largest out-of-town office schemes currently being developed in the Midlands, and our work will include both the construction and the full office fit-out allowing UTC Aerospace the chance to move into a ready-to-use space as quickly as possible.”
Malvern Hills Science Park chief executive Alan White added: “I am grateful to Harriett Baldwin for her continued support as the Science Park prepares to complete this latest construction project. Harriett’s public support and behind-the-scenes lobbying have been vital in helping to make projects like this a reality.”
