West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin hopes to make progress on securing a superfast broadband connection for Malvern Vale. A delegation of community groups and home-based workers met with the MP last week (Friday November 24) to discuss the internet connections in the area. The meeting was held to coincide with a summit which Harriett hosted with a senior director from BT and local government representatives to discuss local broadband provision. Harriett commented: “While many areas of Malvern are already benefiting from superfast broadband, residents in Malvern Vale are suffering with slow connections and no sign of an improvement. “I was keen to make the case directly to BT that every area needs a decent connection and I have asked BT and the county council to look into what they can do to help. “I also urge the local residents to try and find additional funding which may help to speed up this process – especially getting funds from the local property developer and housing association. “I know that both BT and the councils are looking hard to see if we can find a quick solution for the homes and business in and around Malvern Vale.” Photo: (back row l-r) Chris Reed, James Burgess, Tom James (chair of Malvern Vale residents' group), (front row l-r) Alexandra Pope, Harriett Baldwin MP
