Harriett Baldwin today offered her new year resolutions ahead of a busy 2012 in West Worcestershire. The MP has pledged to focus on business growth and increasing tourism as part of her campaign to help improve the county’s economic recovery next year. Harriett commented: “First on my list for 2012 is to help the private sector to lead our county’s economic growth and bring jobs and prosperity back to the area. “I hope continued low interest rates will help stimulate growth and encourage people to invest in our futures. “I will be leading a World Trade Fair activity on March 30 bringing many of the major trade delegations from growth countries like China, Brazil, Russia, Canada to the county to talk to local businesses who want to export.” “Tourism will become an important focus in 2012 with the Olympic Torch relay, then the Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as the Diamond Jubilee. I will be doing my best to promote West Worcestershire to encourage people to visit our wonderful county. “I will continue to actively support companies who are able to offer apprenticeships and I pay tribute to the work done this year to find thousands of apprenticeship jobs across the county. “Finally I would encourage every person in the county to support their local media and help make sure that we still have a strong local radio and TV, daily newspaper and strong weekly papers across the county.”
