Harriett Baldwin has made progress in her ongoing rural broadband campaign following a successful event for community leaders.
The MP ran an event attended by more than 40 parish and community representatives at Wychavon District Council’s HQ in Pershore.
Harriett commented: “I am pleased that we were able to have some very constructive discussions and I hope that our attendees are able to go back to their parishes and spread the word.
“Many of our rural parishes will be in the so-called ‘final ten per cent’ which will end up with little or no connection delivered by public investment.
“The message is clear that there are already solutions available to get superfast broadband to most homes and businesses.
“It if now up to the community to feedback how much they want proper broadband connections and how quickly they want it.”
The meeting saw presentations from a number of alternative broadband solutions providers including satellite and wireless technologies.
Harriett’s parliamentary colleague, Rory Stewart MP also spoke to the meeting discussing the challenges he faced helping to upgrade the superfast broadband connection across his Cumbrian constituency.
Harriett added: “Rory is an amazingly impressive person and has extensive experience trying to find workable broadband solutions for his constituency.
“We were very lucky to be able to hear from him and I know that his insights were really useful for attendees.”
