MP Meets Former Chase Pupil Reaching for the Stars

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin joined apprentices from all over the country who are reaching for the stars by embarking in a career working in the aerospace, defence and space sector.

And Harriett met former Chase school pupil Owen Throup who now works at in the cyber security team at QinetiQ at an event at the House of Commons.

Dozens of young apprentices from all over the country travelled to London to celebrate the work of apprentices in one of the fastest-growing sectors in the United Kingdom.

Harriett said:

“QinetiQ is one of the largest employers in West Worcestershire and it has been on a path of growth over recent years, despite the challenges of the pandemic.

“I always try to meet up with the latest batch of apprentices joining the company – many of whom are looking to lay down their roots in and around Malvern.

“The defence sector is strong and as a nation we are developing an important strategy to exploit the opportunities offered in space and aerospace.

“It is great to see the next generation of innovators coming to the town to carry on the important protecting us all at home and abroad.”
