West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has this week offered her help to attempt to negotiate a speedier delivery of faster broadband connections to parts of Malvern.
The MP has been contacted by a number of constituents regarding the slow progress bringing fast internet connections to West Malvern and Malvern Wells.
Harriett commented: “In rural areas, there is money available from local and national government to help connect places that might not otherwise make economic sense.
“However, in Malvern, the private sector in the form of BT has promised to deliver superfast broadband to 14,000 homes.”
“I have been told that there was a delay in bringing superfast cabling to parts of Malvern because of access issues with Conservators land and I have offered my help to District and County Councils to help resolve this issue.
“I know that local residents are frustrated at this lack of progress.
“I understand that there is an issue upgrading BT connection cabinets and I hope that we can rapidly find a solution.
“There are increasing numbers of people who work in the shadow of the Malverns in media and technology business.”
“I am sure the Conservators, as an elected body representing and charging tax on local residents, will be able to reflect the popular support there is for fast broadband in Malvern,”
