West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has offered her backing to a group of local teenagers who are supporting a mental health charity as part of their National Citizens Service activities. Harriett visited the group who are in the middle of planning a series of fund-raising events including a gig at Malvern Town football club and a cake sale next Monday (August 1). The teenagers all attended Hanley Castle High School and The Chase and enjoyed two weeks of residential courses followed by another two weeks spent working together in the local community helping good causes. More than 200,000 teenagers across the UK have so far taken part in the voluntary scheme aimed at 16 and 17 year olds. Harriett commented: "The National Citizen Service scheme is a Government-backed initiative which encourages young people to get more involved in their local community. "It was great to visit a local group to see what they get up to. I was enormously impressed by the group's ambition and drive - they have set themselves some very tight deadlines to deliver some impressive projects. "I am told there are still places available this summer and I would encourage as many people as possible to sign up for one of these schemes if they are eligible.
