West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has met with developers responsible for the Malvern Link station overhaul and offered suggestions to improve their plans. Developers will spend in excess of £500,000 improving facilities at the station. The plans show improvements to the station ticket office, better access and also improved parking areas. Harriett commented: “I have had a good look at the plans and had discussions with developers about what is possible to help Malvern people to get the most from their train station. “I have suggested that they find a way of offering more covered and indoor space for passengers and also plan for a café area to allow people to buy hot drinks and snacks. “There are good outlets in Great Malvern, Worcester and Droitwich, so I see no reason why we can’t look at a similar arrangement in Malvern Link. “I have also suggested that they offer the option of parking payment by mobile phone. More and more people are using this method and it is convenient and easy for most commuters. “I also feel that they should work with local councilors and civic society representatives to make sure that the work is in keeping with the station’s existing image. “The plans show areas for flowerbeds and I have asked that the contractors work with Malvern in Bloom to see what we can do to make the station look appealing for commuters and tourist visitors alike. "Of course, the most important improvement we need is to the frequency and reliability of our train services. “The London to Hereford tender has resulted in a short list of four providers and I will be trying to get the most frequent and most reliable train operating company appointed to the franchise.”
