Harriett Baldwin today welcomed plans to improve the number of carriages on trains between Worcestershire and the capital. Rail operators this week announced a number of enhancements to services into London including extra carriages for peak-time services along the Cotswold Line. Most of the service enhancements will be introduced in time for the London 2012 Olympics. Harriett is a vice-president of the Cotswold Line lobbying group which is fighting for improved services between the county and London, including an hourly service between Hereford and the capital. The group recently celebrated the completion of major infrastructure improvements to dual the line towards Oxford from Evesham. Harriett commented: “Commuters who regularly use the Cotswold line service to London will know that these capacity improvements are long overdue. “However, this news is clearly progress and I hope that this is part of a journey towards improving our rail services to the capital. “I will continue to work with my colleagues in Westminster to keep the pressure up to demand a minimum hourly service from the next franchise holder of this important link.”
