Harriett Baldwin MP today announced that she is planning a meeting with NHS Acute Trust chiefs to discuss plans Malvern and Tenbury community hospitals – both in her constituency. The county’s NHS Worcestershire board last week voted to create a new Community and Mental Health Trust to manage some primary care services and the prized community hospitals. But crucially, under this re-organisation, the community hospital operating theatres will be moved under the management of the NHS Acute Trust. Harriett will meet with Acute Trust chief executive John Rostill to understand what impact the reorganisation will have on the community hospitals. She commented: “I am pleased that we seem to be moving in the right direction at long last creating a management structure preferred by staff, patients and the wider community. “I can see the logic in certain health services being managed by the Acute Trust but I will be watching carefully to make sure that the local operating theatres do not become a casualty of this reorganisation. “People want to be treated and cared for in their local hospitals and I will be working with all of the management team in the NHS to ensure patients get the NHS that they want.”
