West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has offered her backing to a local group seeking to re-open the popular Brewers Arms in West Malvern.
The MP joined the group at the pub to hear their plans to raise money to buy the business and run it as a community pub. The group has submitted a bid to the pub’s current owners, Admiral Taverns, and it plans to raise money through a share issue.
Harriett was briefed on plans to re-open the pub under the management of a new tenant and refurbish the site to attract local customers and tourists.
Harriett said:
“The hospitality industry has faced huge challenges through the pandemic and it is exciting to hear the ambitious plans to re-open and improve this popular pub and breathe new life into the business.
“I’ve helped community groups to restore their village shops and been able to help them find funding sources. I’ve offered the Brewers Arms team similar support and wish them well with their share issue.
“I’m looking forward to being able to re-visit the pub when it re-opens and raise a glass to all the volunteers who want to see a return of their popular local.”
Brian O’Connell from the group reviving the popular pub, added:
“We have had a tremendous response from our local community, and have received sufficient pledges of financial support to enable us to make an offer to Admiral Taverns.
“We just hope that Admiral accept our bid so that The Brewers Arms is, once again, the heart of West Malvern”
