West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has called on Openreach to confirm plans to rollout superfast fibre connections to the remote parts of the county.
Harriett met with Openreach, Worcestershire County Council and Bushley Parish Council to talk about a long drawn out strategy to connect the village to a better internet connection.
The village has been able to access additional funds to allow Openreach to connect the community but the parish council was concerned at the time taken to begin the work.
Harriett commented: “West Worcestershire has some very rural communities and it has been extremely challenging to I have been raising the issues faced by Bushley and other remote communities for many years.
“I am pleased that Bushley’s residents should now be getting a proper connection but there are still questions about how quickly the work will be carried out.
“I have asked for the county council to share the plan for when communities like Bushley are going to be connected by Openreach and I hope that there will be some good news to share very soon.”
Bushley Parish Council chairman Nigel Nicholl added: “We have been discussing the procurement of superfast broadband for the village with Worcestershire County Council for a number of years now and we are feeling the pain at the slow progress of the implementation of the scheme.
“We need hard information as to when this work will be carried out and consequently, when superfast broadband will be available for the residents of Bushley.”
