West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin took part in a lively Question Time when she visited Bredon School last week (Friday January 31). Harriett met with the school’s sixth form to give a talk about her job in parliament and to answer questions. The school, which specialises in teaching children with special educational needs, is fee-paying, and offers mainstream education for pupils up to 18 years old. Some of the pupils are there with support from their local authorities because of the outstanding ability of the school to bring out the best from children with learning difficulties. Many pupils, attending either as day pupils or boarders, come from farming families and then go on to farm professionally. Harriett commented: “Many of the young people in the sixth form are of voting age so it was really interesting to hear some of the questions they had to put. “With European elections in the spring I was keen to engage them in politics and to encourage them to participate. “People have died over the centuries to ensure we all have the right to vote so I was keen to impress on them the importance of having their say about the way they are governed. “I was unsurprised to hear that broadband connections at the school is their top priority, and I have agreed to look into their current blockages getting a fast connection for the school.”
