West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has today written to Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin to congratulate him on his reappointment and asking for his further support in the campaign to dual the Carrington Road bridge. The Minister visited Harriett’s and Robin Walker's constituency last month to see the bridge and discuss plans to fund the project. The A4440 link road has benefited from broadening and two new roundabouts but traffic is still pinched at the bridge causing significant delays to commuters on their way to the Western side of the River Severn. Harriett said: “I am grateful to the Minister for visiting the county and meeting with me and my colleagues. “His comments were encouraging but it is now down to the Local Enterprise Partnership to pitch for funding from Central Government. “I have asked the Transport Secretary to formally support our campaign so we can take the message back to Government that we all support the LEP’s bid to deliver this crucial road improvement as soon as possible.”
