West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin was invited to see potential stars of the future at a production of Jesus Christ Superstar at Malvern theatre last night (August 20). The MP was invited to the production put on by Malvern Theatre’s Young Company and met with some of the cast, who are all aged between 16 and 24. A sell-out audience enjoyed the performance directed by renowned West End director Andy Reiss. Harriett commented: “I was delighted to be asked to come and see this wonderful production and I was really impressed by the quality of the actors. “We are so lucky to have such an amazing theatre offering such a diverse range of entertainment and it is great to see the young stars of the future performing to sell-out audiences. “Council tax payers will contribute £160,000 this year to the theatre which has received over a million pounds in grant and rent subsidy since 2007. “I urge local people to make sure they get the most of this service and make a point of visiting either the cinema or one of the two theatres.”
