MP Harriett Baldwin this week hit the first rally under brand new floodlights at Pershore’s indoor tennis centre with Davis Cup legend Danny Sapsford. The MP was asked to join the celebrations at the tennis club after its secured funding for a brand new LED lighting system. Harriett formally switched on the lights and then hit the first balls with the Great Britain player on Saturday (January 17). Danny runs his Bright Ideas for Tennis charity which encourages young people to play the sport and will next month will play tennis for 24 hours to raise funds. Harriett commented: “Pershore Indoor Tennis Centre is a fabulous resource for local people and it was great fun to have a knockabout with a former Davis Cup player. “As a tennis fan myself, it was great to see so many people gathered together to celebrate the sport and I was keen to congratulate the club’s members for raising the money to give local people a state-of-the-art facility. “I was particularly pleased to see so many boys and girls being inspired to play tennis and I hope that I have seen some champions of the future playing in Pershore.” Photo: Harriett Baldwin MP shakes hands with Davis Cup star Danny Sapsford after hitting first balls under new LED lights at Pershore Indoor Tennis Centre.
