West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin this week emphasised the importance of Malvern as a technology hub in the region. Harriett was speaking at a dinner for local scientists held at Malvern College last Friday (March 11). She commented: “I have never before had the pleasure of speaking to a group with quite so many PhDs. The Malvern scientific community is very important to the continued strength of our local economy. Although QinetiQ has been shrinking, other local firms are growing and there are many spin-offs that start in this area. “I am committed to making it as easy as possible for local people to start up their own company and to start trading. Malvern is a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family and it is important that we maintain that quality of life because it attracts and retains brains in the area. “I also talk regularly to the county council and district council to see what we can do to support businesses. “Working with all levels of government, I am campaigning for better infrastructure for the area – for example a better train service to London, a better road link from Malvern to the M5 and better broadband speeds.”
