West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has offered her support to a cancer research charity launching a website to improve diagnosis rates. The MP visited the charity’s stand at the Conservative party conference to help promote the new web resource. The website allows local people to compare diagnosis and treatment statistics with local averages and was launched as part of the charity’s ‘Research Kills Cancer’ campaign. Harriett commented: “UK cancer survival rates have more than doubled on the past 40 years and Cancer Research plays an important role in driving that number up. “The website is a useful resource to benchmark how we are performing as a region and I would hope that the statistics will show even greater performance with the arrival of the new radiotherapy unit in Worcester. “Research into this illness has led us towards more effective and kinder treatments and I was happy to visit the charity at conference to get an update on their activities.”
