Harriett Baldwin today welcomed ongoing plans to continue to increase the range of services offered by Malvern’s Community Hospital. The MP congratulated work carried out by hospital matron Lin Ingles to identify a number of new services which will can be offered by the team at the new site. Since taking over the new £17 million site, the hospital has added sixteen new services including a cardiology clinic, a vascular clinic and a rheumatology clinic. The hospital continues to offer a Minor Injuries Unit every day from 9am until 9pm. The hospital will also offer diabetes screening for the first time this weekend and the team is looking at plans to deliver a pain clinic for Malvern people. The MP was speaking after Lin and local trust chief executive Sarah Dugan met with Malvern Hills District Council’s oversight and scrutiny committee to discuss the new hospital. Harriett commented: “The new Malvern Community hospital is an amazing asset and it is clearly being used a great deal by local people. “Nearly 15,000 people have already used the hospital and that is well ahead of plans. I went there recently for an appointment at the mobile breast-screening unit and I was in and out in under thirty minutes, so I know how convenient it is. “In my regular discussions with both the Acute Trust team and the Health and Care Trust I am keen to see what other services can be offered in Malvern so that local people do not have to travel to Worcester Royal, Redditch or Kidderminster. “As a member of the League of Friends, I know the team is doing excellent work to raise the funds to help the hospital add new services. “Lin and her team are to be congratulated for their amazing work getting the hospital up and running and I look forward to seeing how it grows its services over the coming years.”
