Harriett Baldwin today thanked Malvern postal workers as the Christmas rush gathers pace. The MP took a tour of the Abbey Road sorting office and talked to staff handling the thousands of cards and packages being distributed to Malvern homes. Malvern sorting office employs 63 people handling nearly 1 million items each month. The office is planning to run special deliveries this Sunday and the team will be at full stretch to ensure that Christmas post arrives in time. Harriett commented: “It was very interesting to watch the post being sorted and to see the huge volume of cards and packages that arrive throughout the night ready for the daily deliveries. “It is clear that this is a huge task with millions of items being individually sorted and prepared for delivery. “I was keen to thank the staff in person for the great job they do both now and throughout the year. “Difficult weather conditions have made the job more challenging but I know that the team will do everything they can to make sure the Christmas post keeps running as smoothly as possible.” Photo: Harriett with Andrew Bowyer, local sorting office manager
