West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin led primary school pupils in a democracy masterclass during a visit to Lower Broadheath. The MP spoke to pupils about her role in Westminster and led a debate on school uniform during the visit to Lower Broadheath Primary School last week. Harriett was also taken on a tour of the school and chatted with head teacher Andrew Hackley and school councillors Alex Whittaker and Holly Ridlinton. The school has been praised by Government Education Minister Nick Gibb after it scored in the top three per cent of the country for maths and reading skills. Harriett commented: "I always tell people that the best part of my job is to visit our local primary schools and I was particularly keen to pop in to Lower Broadheath Primary School. "Students from the school visited the Houses of Parliament last year and even asked for election materials so they could run their own mock election alongside the General Election last year. "The school was recently marked out as one of the best schools in the country for success teaching reading skills and I took the chance to say well done to the head teacher and his team. "I hope that the pupils enjoyed their democracy lesson and are inspired to take a closer interest in politics in years to come."
