West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has today unveiled the new-look Malvern Link train station following a £500,000 facelift. The MP toured the station and formally opened the new building at a ceremony today (Friday, March 14). The refurbishment project has improved facilities for rail users as well as delivering better access to Osbourne Road and the nearby new Community Hospital. The work, funded by Worcestershire County Council, was started in April last year and will also allow improved parking for rail users at the station. Harriett was joined on the visit by Lord Faulkener of Worcester, who is President of the Cotswold Line group which lobbies for better rail links between the county and London. Malvern Link station is a vital resource for more than 200,000 commuters, shoppers and students annually travelling between Malvern and Birmingham, London and the South East. Harriett commented: “I am pleased that the work to improve Malvern Link train station is now complete and is another chapter in the re-vitalisation of the town. “With the new hospital, the new station, a new fire station and two care villages in the Link, millions of pounds have been spent improving the area. “I welcome the fact that the work was planned with the input of the civic society and other local experts to ensure that they are in keeping with the station's heritage. I am also working with the County Council on a pavement upgrade. “I will continue to press for investment to improve the number, reliability and frequency of services from this station.”
