West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin today urged local businesses to speak out to get fast broadband access.
Worcestershire County Council is starting a consultation exercise to find out what local businesses need from their local internet services.
And the local MP has encouraged businesses to get involved to make sure the right solution is delivered across the county.
Harriett commented: “It is essential that the county gets a proper broadband service as quickly as possible so we are able to compete on a level playing field across the UK and the world.
“I have heard from many companies who are struggling with their internet connections and some home-based workers even struggle to get dial-up speeds at home.
“This is just not acceptable in this day and age and I have successfully lobbyied the Government to allocate funds to fix some of our so-called ‘not-spots’ where internet access is of variable quality.
“However, alongside this, the county is developing a strategy to help our local companies to get access to superfast broadband.
“It is essential that companies have their say and show what they need to stay ahead of the game.
“The county is responsible for our infrastructure and good internet is a vital tool to allow more people to work from home and reduce pressure on our road and rail links.
“People should get in touch with the county council and feedback their requirements to ensure a proper broadband service for all.”
