West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has today urged local people to shop around and switch their energy provider to save money.
Record numbers of people switched provider last year with nearly six million people changing their supplier to save money.
There are now over 60 domestic energy suppliers in the market meaning people have plenty of choice to switch to the cheapest rates for electricity and gas.
The Government has also introduced measures which make it easier and quicker for people to switch as well as a cap on energy tariffs ending rip-off energy prices for millions of families.
Harriett commented: “I have always been a supporter of schemes which help people to reduce their energy bills like bulk buying schemes but this Government effort to act on energy prices is clearly making a difference.
“The energy cap is making a huge difference for many of my constituents and I am really pleased that one in five consumers switched their provider last year.
“I encourage as many people as possible to look into switching suppliers – whether it is your energy provider, telecoms company or even your bank.
“By taking a little time to shop around for the best deal, you can reduce your household bills and make sure that more of your hard earned cash stays in your pockets.”
