West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has urged local rail users to take part in a major consultation which will help the Government to plan rail investment in the next decade.
The Government has appointed the former British Airways chief Keith Williams to carry out a review of the rail industry and he is seeking views from local rail users as part of the consultation process.
The review will look at the funding of the rail network and existing rail franchises, HS2 and other related spending decisions. The consultation will run until May with a White Paper published in the autumn.
Local people can share their views by filling out a survey at https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/williamsrailreview/
Harriett commented: “I have always spoken up for local rail users and I will be reflecting their views when I respond to this consultation – we all want to see better services to and from Birmingham, more services for the new Worcestershire Parkway station when it opens and faster, more frequent, more reliable services between the county and London.
“This is an important opportunity for people to have their say on the way rail services are run and funded to make sure we get the right investment over the next decade.
“The rail network has benefited from the highest level of investment since Victorian times but it must make sure that our own local services get the best possible funding. This can only happen if it meets the expectations and views of local rail users and I hope many people will take the time to have their say.”
