West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has called for accelerated action from Network Rail as plans are developed to improve facilities and parking capacity at Pershore’s train station. The MP has written to Network Rail bosses calling on them to look at ways to speed up projects which could improve car parking at the station. The Government today committed an extra £20 million to a fund to improve access for disabled and less able people using public transport. Harriett met with Network Rail managing director Mark Langman last year and highlighted the poor provision and signage for disabled rail users at the town’s station. Harriett commented: “I’ve worked closely with Wychavon District Council, Great Western Railways and Network Rail to try and find a way to improve both the station car parking and facilities and Pershore. “Although I have had some constructive meetings, this work does seem to have stalled and I have written to Network Rail to ask them to accelerate their efforts on this project. “On a day when the Government repeats its commitment to improving facilities for all rail users, I felt it was important to remind Network Rail that the station and its car parking capacity remains a key priority of mine.”
