Tenbury High School has been given the green light to convert to an academy from this week. Education Secretary Nicky Morgan has written to West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin confirming that the school is converting to an Academy from September 1. The conversion follows the opening of new facilities expected to improve the teaching of English and Maths at the school and improved GCSE results last month. The new block, funded in the main by Worcestershire County Council, cost £1.81 million to complete. Harriett said: “I support the school’s attempt to focus on improving its performance in English and Maths which are crucial subjects to allow students to go on to further study. “The school is following in the footsteps of the other high schools in my constituency which have gone from strength to strength since becoming academies. “I congratulate the school on taking this step and I have offered my continued support to the headmaster and his team and hope that the school continues to show improvement over the coming months and years.”
