Local MP Harriett Baldwin today welcomed news that the county council is poised to act to fix dangerous pavements in Malvern Link. The MP lobbied county council transport bosses after a meeting with local residents and taking receipt of a petition from more than 600 local residents. Ian Barnforth, head of operations covering maintenance and countryside at Worcestershire County Council has confirmed in a letter that the pavements outside the new Churchill Retirement Home and Summerfield Road have been identified as requiring attention, and are due to be reconstructed in the 2013 footway maintenance programme. Harriett commented: “I am grateful to local residents in Malvern for drawing my attention to this problem. With all the investment in Malvern Link - the new hospital, the refurbished station, Churchill Retirement Home, the upgraded Post Office and the new Fire Station - it is good to hear that the pavements will also get reconstructed. “I am grateful to all the people who took the trouble to sign the petition and I hope they will be happy with the results we have achieved.”
