West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed news that the Government is planning to implement some of the recommendations proposed by the McKay Commission.
The commission was set up to seek a solution to the so-called West Lothian Question dilemma regarding the voting rights of MPs from the four nations of the UK.
Harriett introduced a private members bill to the floor of the House of Commons leading to the Government setting up the Commission.
The MP has kept the pressure up on the Government to implement the Commission's findings in this Parliament as well as regular questions to Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, who is in charge of constitutional reform.
Media reports today suggested that elements from the McKay Commission will be brought forward for legislation later this year including a veto right for English MPs.
Harriett commented: "I have been a campaigner for a fairer deal for English MPs in Westminster and I introduced a private member's bill into Parliament to set this reform in motion.
"The McKay Commission, to which I gave evidence, came up with some workable solutions to this complex constitutional issue.
"I look forward to seeing the full detail of this Government proposal and I hope that it will bring a measure of fairness back for English MPs in our UK Parliament."
