West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has welcomed news on further growth at QinetiQ’s Malvern site following the award of a £67 million from the Ministry of Defence. The company has been awarded the multi-million contract to deliver navigation systems in defence kit such as automated drones, securing 100 jobs at the Malvern site. Neighbouring business Collins Aerospace, based on Malvern Hills Science Park, will also benefit from the contract as a sub-contractor in the deal confirmed by the Government last week. Harriett was briefed on the latest win by QinetiQ Group chief executive Steve Wadey, at a meeting in the City of London coinciding with the Defence and Security Equipment International event. Harriett said: “I was briefed on the latest win by Steve Wadey, and I was pleased to be able to congratulate him and his Malvern team for this great success. “I am told that the business is Malvern is strong and it is good to see other companies in the town working together securing jobs and further growth for the area. “The brilliant brains of Malvern have always been one of the town’s finest assets and I am pleased to be able to join with one of West Worcestershire’s largest employers to talk about its plans for continued growth.”
