West Worcestershire MP Dame Harriett Baldwin has welcomed confirmation that the TSB has committed to a permanent pop-up banking hub following the closure of its branch in Tenbury Wells.
The MP has also offered her support to the Post Office which is looking to expand its counter service when the final bank closes next May.
Dame Harriett has also written to the chief executive of LINK – which is responsible for creating banking hubs – to ask for a review of plans to set one up in Tenbury.
A hub has been offered to Pershore, also in Dame Harriett’s constituency, but so far LINK has rejected calls for a similar offering in Tenbury.
Dame Harriett said:
“Tenbury Wells is a vibrant town and people who use the shops and services in the town come in from a wide geographical area.
“I have had constructive conversations with TSB to make sure their customers are well supported when its branch is closed, and the Post Office is already planning to add extra capacity to cope with demand for banking services.
“A permanent banking hub appears to me to be the optimal long-term solution and I have asked LINK to review its decision, taking into account the challenges local people face accessing banking services elsewhere.
“I pledge to work with all relevant parties to try and help people and local businesses to access the right banking support.”
