West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin today welcomed measures in the Queen’s Speech which will offer opportunities to Malvern’s ‘cyber valley’.
The Government’s legislative plan for the coming year was set out by the Queen addressing both Houses of Parliament.
As well as immigration and benefit reforms, the legislative programme will introduce measures to reduce cyber fraud and protect online shoppers.
The Government is also planning to introduce legislation to improve its procurement of defence equipment which will please many of the companies which supply the armed forces.
Harriett commented: “The Government has introduced a number of reforms to build on work that has been carried out in health provision and the welfare system.
“This year’s programme will include measures to reduce the impact of cyber crime and improve people’s consumer rights.
“I know this will be welcomed by the many companies across the county which operate in this area.
“The large number of defence suppliers based across the county will also eagerly await reforms to the procurement process promised in this year’s programme.”
