A popular fund-raising walk along the Malvern Hills has raised over £12,000 for the Help for Heroes charity.
The event returned after a break last year but nearly 500 people took part and received medals from West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin, Gulf War veteran John Peters as well as Malvern Town Mayor Nick Houghton.
Walkers who took on the challenge we also treated to an aerial display from a World War II Spitfire which looped the hills about the charity walkers.
Harriett commented:
“This fund-raiser has become an annual fixture in my diary and I was delighted to see the event return after the Covid break.
“I am pleased that the weather was good and so many people enjoyed the autumn sunshine to walk our beautiful Malvern Hills and raise money for a cause that is so relevant today given recent events in Afghanistan.
“Many of the participants had strong personal stories about why they were taking part. Malvern has had close links to the armed forces for many decades and this is an important local fund-raiser to support those who have served at home and abroad.”
