Harriett Baldwin MP today welcomed further good news after Malvern Instruments announced it is in line for a £3m cash award from the Regional Growth Fund.
Harriett sponsored the application to build a new research and development and create nearly 50 new jobs.
The investment will also guarantee the company’s long-term plans to remain in Malvern safeguarding a further 100 jobs.
This is one of the first major awards to be made to a county business and follows the news that neighbouring technology business QinetiQ has announced the creation of 60 new jobs.
Malvern Instruments is a world leading in manufacturing measuring equipment and has won a host of awards including seven Queen’s Awards.
Harriett commented: “I was delighted to be asked to support the Malvern Instruments bid and I am so pleased that they look to have been successful.
“The company has been a star performer in our business community and I am glad that the Government has agreed to invest this money in the company’s future growth.
“The Regional Growth Fund is this Government’s key initiative to rebalance high-end jobs away from the economy’s over-dependence on the public sector and finance industry in the South East.
”As our economy goes from rescue to recovery, it is vital that we grow these kinds of high-skilled jobs here in Worcestershire.
“The brilliant brains of Malvern have been given a real boost this week.”
