West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin today welcomed latest plans for the flood defences for Upton-upon-Severn.
The MP said she was ‘encouraged’ by the progress made by the Environment Agency at her visit to the public exhibition last week (June 17).
Harriett commented: “I would like to praise the way in which the designers have listened to the public comments from the last consultation and they have added glass areas, more gates and heritage brick to the designs for the waterfront. I think it’s nothing short of a miracle that the money is still in place to carry out this work.
“I am keen to pay tribute to the work of the Environment Agency and I am confident that these defences will protect the people of Upton from all but the most extreme floods. They will end the disruption from the temporary flood defences.
“I know that there are concerns about recent shifts in the land near the Swan and I will be keeping in touch with the relevant authorities to stay abreast of developments.”
