West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin has this week backed a campaign with colleagues to speak up for the county’s NHS by signing a joint letter to Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt. The letter speaks up for the majority of health service users across the county who want to see a long-term future for the Worcestershire NHS. Harriett explained: “The local NHS has been conducting a review of the best way to deliver its services efficiently across the whole of Worcestershire. Like all of my county MP colleagues, I supported a strategy and we have been eager to see it implemented. “Frankly, the review has now gone on far too long - now into its fifth year. The time for action has come as the uncertainty is causing staffing problems. “Right now, staff working at our Acute Trust hospitals need our whole-hearted support as they seek to improve performance and quality of care. “As locally elected politicians, we have agreed to stand up for the vast majority of Worcestershire people who want the local health service to succeed, not fail and be broken up, just because of resistance to some change in Redditch." The letter, which has been signed by Harriett, Mark Garnier MP, Nigel Huddleston MP and Robin Walker MP, also has the backing of Adrian Hardman, leader of Worcestershire County Council and the leaders of Worcester City Council, Malvern Hills District Council and Wychavon District Council. Harriett added: “For too long, one campaigning group has dominated discussions about the future of Worcestershire’s NHS and its actions have damaged the NHS significantly. “The time has come for the silent majority to speak up and make sure that the Health Secretary takes into account the views of the largest voice, not the loudest.”
