Post Office services may be returned to villages around Evesham after West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin was asked for views on a new mobile service proposal. Several villages, including Ashton-under-Hill and Elmley Castle have lost out on postal counter services after local outlets closed, but Harriett has been consulted on a plan to run a mobile service from Evesham post office. The Post Office has briefed Harriett on the proposals and local people will be consulted for six weeks about timings and venues of the mobile service. The local consultation will run between May 19 and June 30 and the proposed changes will come into effect in July. More details and an online feedback form can be found at www.postofficeviews.co.uk. Harriett commented: "I am pleased to see some level of service returning to some of the more rural parts of West Worcestershire but it is now absolutely vital that local people have their say. "Mobile services give some people the chance to access postal services closer to their homes but it is imperative that those people who plan to use the service offer their views. "I will also be welcoming comments on these proposals and look forward to working with the Post Office to find a solution that works best for local people."
